Fujitsu UK & Ireland
London, 28th July 2010 — Fujitsu has been awarded a prestigious Home Office Supplier and Innovation Award - “Best Example of Collaborative Working with the Home Office”. Fujitsu and Atos Origin were presented with the joint award for their leadership of a collaborative IT procurement and delivery project - Extend & Blend. This is the second year running in which Fujitsu has been recognised at the awards ceremony.
The Extend & Blend project is a key component of the Home Office’s Next Generation Information, Systems and Technology Transformation (NGISTT) programme. NGISTT addresses the need for improvements in the way the Home Office manages its business including joining up the department, improving systems & processes and collaboration.
The success of the Extend & Blend procurement means that Home Office IT costs will be reduced by over £110 million during the lifetime of the contract extensions. This will exceed operational efficiency savings targets by reducing annual IT running costs by 25% in 2011/12 and 30% in subsequent years and delivering an additional estimated £173 million in efficiency savings and other benefits to the Home Office.
The Home Office encouraged a radical new collaborative procurement approach to underpin Extend & Blend involving a tri-partite client/supplier relationship between Home Office, Fujitsu and additional IT supplier, Atos Origin.
Malcolm Graham, Home Office business unit director at Fujitsu UK and Ireland, “We made a joint submission with Atos Origin for Extend & Blend Programme and I am delighted that our contribution over the past 12 months has been formally recognised by the Home Office. This is a magnificent achievement by the team who made the Extend & Blend programme an exemplar for others to emulate.”
Fujitsu also received a Finalist Certificate for “Best Contribution to the Corporate Social Responsibility Agenda” for its work on green designs such as auto PC power-off and virtualisation on their estate.
