New Brand-selective Shop to Be Launched from aquagirl

Debut of Chandelier in Autumn 2004

— Proposing High Quality Items in Casual Styles —

World Co., Ltd. plans to open a new brand-selective shop, Chandelier for adult women in their 20s and 30s from this autumn.


Background of Store Openings

World launched aquagirl in 1995 as a brand-selective shop that stocks merchandise purchased from other companies in respective countries around the world as well as our original products. Since then, the number of aquagirl stores, which are mainly frequented by women in their 20s and 30s, has greatly increased with 24 currently in operation. Next spring will mark the 10th anniversary since aquagirl's debut.


During the past decade, customer demands have diversified, with needs for casual items such as denim jeans or work wear increasing in particular, not only among the younger generation whose ages range from pre-teens to early 20s, but also for adult women in the next generation group. Although World has high quality products, there are still relatively few places to buy such goods to meet these needs, thus we have not been able to offer such items that include dressing fashionably until now.


Chandelier merchandise delivers an image of a different type of woman than that of aquagirl, with developed items targeting adult women with different lifestyles, enabling them to enjoy fashion in various situations both at work and after work.


Chandelier Product Features and Attributes

Chandelier plans to introduce items centering on pants, which will constitute mostly denim items, T-shirts and pullovers. Since jeans are particularly simple items that can deliver a "feminine and shapely impression" when worn by adult women, we will purchase items mainly from the U.S. west coast.
While there are numerous purchased products focused on trends and popular items to choose from, Chandelier will provide a carefully selected lineup of products that will also embrace these factors from Chandelier's standpoint entailing the provision of "good quality clothing" and "clothing tailored to suit Japanese women's physiques."
As fashion for work is increasingly becoming more casual and denim wear is more commonly adopted, Chandelier will propose sophisticated fashion items including high quality cashmere knitwear, leather bags or high-heeled shoes to go with jeans.
In contrast to the "graceful, elegant and modestly sweet" image of aquagirl, Chandelier will portray an image of "cool, sharp and determined." Merchandise will consist of carefully selected items purchased from other companies as well as two of World's distinctive original brands.
