Tsubaki Emerson Co., (President: Tadashi Ichikawa; Headquarters: Nagaokakyo, Kyoto; A subsidiary of Tsubakimoto Chain Co.,) will release the Echt-Flex Coupling NEF Taper-Lock Series, a disc coupling that is perfect for linking servo motors, on April 1.

Tsubaki Emerson supplies disc couplings under the Echt-Flex name and provides a wide product lineup from general-purpose to precision models. The NEF Taper-Lock Series is a new addition to the company's range of Echt-Flex range and features taper technology from Tsubaki Emerson's experience in power lock devices.

Improved clamping force satisfies allowable coupling torque for all standard shaft bores and ensures no reduction in torque even with small-diameter shafts. The new coupling also features fewer component parts, making it significantly shorter and lighter than previous Tsubaki Emerson models. This has made it possible to reduce moment of inertia by 26 percent, improving servo motor responsiveness and reducing power consumption. The environmentally friendly NEF Taper-Lock Series is also RoHS-compliant.

This highly efficient coupling delivers high torque in a compact size and is ideal for use in the growing market for servo drive applications.

   A tapered, purpose-designed hub reduces overall length and weight by 37 percent over conventional Tsubaki Emerson products.
   This space-saving design also helps reduce moment of inertia by 26 percent.

   Improved clamping force satisfies allowable coupling torque for all standard bores. There is no reduction in torque due to reduced clamping force, even with small-diameter shafts.
3. Extensive product lineup
   Standard lineup comprises 8 models supporting 708 combinations of shaft bore diameters. This makes the new product perfect for a wide range of applications.
4. Use any combination
   All components apart from hubs are compatible with other standard NEF Series models. The NEF Series can be used with a variety of other series including keyway hubs, clamp hubs, and long spacers.
5. Stiff, backlash-free design
   As all torque is transmitted via friction locking, there is no backlash and correct servo motor operation is unaffected. The optimally designed disc uses the finite element method to achieve high torsional stiffness and flexibility.
