Preparations to Resume Operation of the #1 Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) at Chiba Refinery Following Completion of the Safety Inspectiony

(Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo / Paid in Capital: 107.2 bn JPY / President: Yaichi Kimura) express our sincere apologies on the concerns and inconveniences caused to the local residents and to all those whom have been affected by the fire/explosion at Chiba Refinery on March 11, 2011.

This is to report that Cosmo Oil have today began preparations to resume operation of the #1 CDU (Distillation Capacity: 100,000 barrels/day) at Chiba Refinery following completion of the inspection by the Chiba Prefecture Authorities.

The #2 CDU (Distillation Capacity 120,000 barrels/day) have resumed operations on March 30 (previously announced) and when the #1 CDU commence operation, Chiba Refinery will return back to its original 2 CDU operations as per before the Great East Japan Earthquake.

All efforts will continue to be made for the building of new LPG tanks and full restoration of the refinery with highest priority on stable supply and safety.
