Lasertec Corporation was awarded an industrial prize ("Prize for Encouragement") by the Laser Society of Japan for its significant contribution to the progress of the laser and optics-related industry achieved by the MATRICS X700-series photomask inspection system, which is one of the main products of Lasertec.
The X700-series system employs an all-solid-state QCW213nm laser source, which Lasertec successfully developed and commercialized for the first time in the world. The X700-series system has been operated by semiconductor manufacturers at state-of-the art factories in the countries around the globe, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Germany, the United States and the People's Republic of China, for detection of finest defects and foreign particles, and is thus playing an important role in quality assurance and management of semiconductor photomasks.
