Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
President/ Statutory Representative Director: Tsuneo Murata
Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commenced mass-production of monolithic ceramic capacitors on interposer*1 substrates. This is the first time in the world that a monolithic ceramic capacitor has been installed on an interposer substrate as a countermeasure for squealing*2.
In the design of power supply circuits for various applications such as laptop PCs, cellphones and digital cameras, "squealing" caused by vibration of capacitors is an issue. Murata has recently commercialized a "monolithic ceramic capacitor on an interposer substrate," which consists of a monolithic ceramic capacitor mounted on an interposer substrate. This arrangement enables the interposer substrate to absorb vibration generated in the capacitor, and greatly suppresses the transmission of vibration to the main board.
We intend to further expand our lineup in the future as well.
Mobile devices such as smartphones, PCs, digital still cameras and audio/visual devices such as television receivers
Representative example: Results of performing a comparative measurement of the level of squealing of the ZRA21NR60J226ME11 with that of a general-purpose capacitor (GRM21AR60J226ME47)
| Temperature characteristics: | R6 (±15%) |
|---|---|
| Rated voltage: | 6.3Vdc |
| Capacitance: | 22µF |
| Capacitance deviation: | M (±20%) |
| ZRA18M: | L=2.0±0.1, W=1.2±0.1, T=1.15±0.1 |
|---|---|
| ZRA21N: | L=2.4±0.1, W=1.65±0.1, T=1.35±0.1(Unit: mm) |
Mass-produced since June 2012.
| *1 Interposer: | A kind of printed circuit board that is made to match the size of the monolithic ceramic capacitor |
|---|---|
| *2 Squealing: | A phenomenon whereby mechanical vibration occurs when a voltage is applied to a ceramic material. Sound is emitted due to the vibration of the printed circuit board. |
