Cosmo express the sincerest apology to the local community and to all those whom we have caused concerns and inconveniences as a result of the asphalt leakage to the sea which occurred today.
Recovery of the asphalt is being made and investigation into the cause is under way with the current status as per below:
1. Date and time of leakage
- Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 7:18 AM
Leakage have already stopped
2. Area of leakage
- Chiba Refinery of Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. (Address: 2 Goi Kaigan, Ichihara, Chiba)
No. 505 Asphalt Tank (Tank capacity: 1,000 KL)
3. Amount of leakage from tank
- 437 KL (conversion temperature 15 degrees centigrade)
Portion of the asphalt leaked into the sea but the volume is still being investigated
4. Cause of leakage
5. Measures taken
- oil fence set up at around 8 AM to prevent spreading
Leaked asphalt is currently being retrieved
6. Injuries
7. Delivery
- normal delivery except for limited products(asphalt)
