Canon Selected As One Of Interbrand's 50 Best Global Green Brands Of 2012

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., July 13, 2012 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today Canon has been honored as one of the 50 Best Global Green Brands by Interbrand, the world's leading brand consultancy. This year, Canon ranks number 29 on the list of all global brands, and number eight on the list of companies headquartered in Asia.

Interbrand recognized Canon's ongoing commitment to sustainability through its expansion of eco-friendly products, as well as a recent overhaul to its U.S. offices to create more energy-efficient environments. The new office policies and improvements saved the company $300,000 in utility costs and conserved an amount of energy equivalent to the kWh required to power its U.S. Corporate Headquarters for four months.

As a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient office equipment, Canon has maintained a focus on innovative product design to conserve energy resources. Canon was among the first office equipment manufacturers to partner with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in its ENERGY STAR program. Canon now has qualified more than 200 products that incorporate original and advanced energy-efficient technologies and has received ten ENERGY STAR awards since 1996.

Every year Canon supports a variety of environmental initiatives around the country, including the Canon Clean Earth Crew, in which Canon employees volunteer their time to protect and improve the natural environment in communities near Canon offices; and a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, in which Canon has planted 50,000 trees in state parks around the United States since the program's inception in 2008.

Canon U.S.A., Inc., is a leading provider of consumer, business-to-business, and industrial digital imaging solutions.
