ELECOM CO., LTD. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, Japan; President: Junji Hada) will launch a new “Eye Barrier” series of anti-peeping filters that restrict the viewing range of your screen, comprising a total of 14 sizes, in early August. This new series features slim-type filters that are highly recommended for slim notebook PCs.
“Eye Barrier” is a popular PC screen filter that blocks certain angles of vision. Simply apply it to your PC screen and it will restrict its viewing range, either at the office, while on the move, or at your business destination, so you can be completely at ease while using your PC.
The “EF-PFS Series” is a new slimmer model based on the existing “Eye Barrier: EF-PF Series,” featuring a thickness of 0.4mm.
Its slim design makes it perfect even for slim notebook PCs, such as Ultrabooks; the filter does not interfere with the keyboard, allowing the PC to be closed properly. It comes in 14 different sizes so you can choose the best one to fit the size of your PC.
Similarly to the already existing “Eye Barrier,” the “EF-PFS Series” has internal louvers in the filter that control the direction of the light so it is only emitted toward the front of the screen, limiting the viewing angle to 60° from left to right (i.e. 30° to the left and 30° to the right when viewed from the front). Therefore, if people were to try to peep into your screen from an angle greater than 60°, all they would see is a black screen. This product can be used in a variety of scenarios where you do not want other people to see the information displayed on your screen, such as when using your PC in a place where there is a large traffic of people, or while on the move.
In addition to its anti-peeping capability, the filter also provides protection for your screen and reduces the burden on your eyes.
The filter’s surface features an AG and anti-static coating that cuts down on glare and prevents dust from adhering itself to the screen. Also, its AG coating has been optimized to prevent blurring even on high pixel density displays, making the screen easier to see. It also features a “3H surface hardness,” a high hardness that prevents the surface of the filter from becoming scratched.
The filter has been designed to be gentle on its users; it features “5.8% reflectance,” reducing the surface reflection of indoor or outdoor lights; “75% transmittance,” creating a brightness that is easy on the eyes and makes the screen easy to see; as well as “99.9% UV protection,” blocking ultraviolet rays which can be harmful to the eyes and body.
It includes 3 different types of clear adhesive stickers to choose from, depending on the type of LCD screen and on how you would like to apply the filter to suit your requirements. In addition to the 2 types: monitor adhesive stickers and frame adhesive stickers, it also includes detachable tab stickers so you can easily remove the filter when showing your PC screen to others.
