DISCO Corporation (Head Office: Ota-ku, Tokyo, President: Kazuma Sekiya) has announced plans to invest 11 billion yen toward the construction of a new seismic base isolation building at the Kuwabata Plant in Hiroshima Prefecture, DISCO’s manufacturing site for Precision Processing Equipment and Precision Processing Tools.
To expand the manufacturing framework to meet growing demand
The Kuwabata Plans Building A (completed in February 2012) generally operates near full capacity. The manufacturing framework will be reinforced to prepare for future rise in demand.
To enhance BCM* readiness
The majority of DISCO’s Precision Processing Tools, the consumable products used by our customers on a daily basis, are produced at an earthquake resistant seismic base isolation structure at the Kure Plant in Hiroshima Prefecture, with some being produced at a non-seismic base isolation structure at the Kuwabata Plant. After completing the new Kuwabata Plant Building B, DISCO will have a framework in place to ensure all Precision Processing Tools and Precision Processing Equipment are produced at earthquake resistant sites, as well as the capacity to meet manufacturing ramp-ups for Precision Processing Equipment.
